The 8(a) program is a business assistance program with a rigorous application process that admits highly qualified firms that are owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The 8(a) program helps thousands of small businesses gain a foothold in government contracting through mentorship, guidance in forming joint ventures, management assistance, and other business counseling. Participants can compete for set-aside and sole-source federal contracts during the nine-year lifespan of their certification.
